I truly miss my beautiful Mom, Fernande.
She was born in Paris, France and lived through the horrors of Nazi-occupied France. She met my Dad, Mark, at the end of the war when he was serving in the Army. They fell in love and married in Paris and then came to the DC area to start their life together.
My Mom was THE BEST Mom in the world. She took us to ballet class, jazz lessons, piano lessons, basketball practice, softball games and more---even though she never had the opportunity to experience these things when she was growing up in France. She never missed a practice, game or rehearsal. She took us roller skating, swimming and trips around the world. She wanted us to have all the experiences in life. But what she will be best remembered for is her ability to teach us honesty, independence, integrity and respect --for all we have and for those that don't. She always told me that being a Mom was her best achievement and she proved it in every way possible.
It was my greatest joy taking care of her in her final years and I could never thank her enough for all she did that contributed to my life. She was God's gift to me and to all who were lucky enough to know her and I will truly miss seeing her beautiful loving face. My Dad and I remain devoted to her memory and we will forever celebrate her life with us. We miss you, Mom.

Fernande and her husband Mark were unusual in that in 73 years of marriage they were never apart.
Her pride and joy was her two daughters. Her daughter Patricia looked after her and arranged for the best care possible through her loving caretaker April Nelson in the final years of her life.
Fernande and Mark enjoyed traveling the world and fine dining and her book keeping and money management skills enabled them to live through a comfortable retirement.
She is survived by her husband Mark and her daughter Patricia who miss her greatly. She will always be loved and remembered by them, myself, April, Eman and her family.
