

Frances Marie Sasso, of Tampa, passed away on Tuesday, December 8th at Tampa General Hospital. She was born March 20, 1929 in Republic, Pennsylvania. She lived in Florida during her adult life, first in Miami and then in Tampa. She retired in 1989 from the United States Department of Commerce, where she served as the Executive Director of the Federal Executive Board, which coordinated activities of federal agencies in South Florida. She was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church in Tampa, and she volunteered and engaged in fundraising for the Spring, the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, the Tampa Women’s Club, the Catholic Women’s Club, the American Heart Association, the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, and Creative Kids Count, Inc. She is survived by her only son, Gary Sasso, and his wife, Karen; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Allison, and Emily Sasso; her sister, Louise Jackson; her brother, Arthur Farro; and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 26th at 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church in Tampa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Creative Kids Count, Inc., (c/o Karen J. Sasso), a charitable non-profit founded more than 15 years ago by her granddaughters to serve the needs of at risk children. Arrangements are being handled by Blount & Curry MacDill, 813-876-2421.
