

85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Oct. 19, 2015. Born in Tampa on Mar. 26, 1930, he was predeceased by his parents Carl and Rosa, his niece Mackenzie Minahan and his beloved wife of 58 years, Violet. Fred is survived by daughters Roxanne and Lisa; granddaughter Lili, sister Pauline Minahan, nephews Carl (Mary)Minahan and Billy(Jennifer)Minahan; niece Rosann(John)Fruhmorgen; two great nieces and a great nephew: Brynne and Jake Fruhmorgen, and Mikelle Minahan; and many cousins and lifelong friends who he loved like family. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School, where he was a member of the football team, and the University of Tampa. A Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal. In his professional life, Fred owned an insurance agency and was a private mortgage investor and builder. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed watching sports and traveling the world with Violet. Fred will be remembered as a devoted family man who loved to have fun and was generous, kind, selfless and would do anything he could for his family and friends. He was a member of the Krewe of Sant’ Yago, the Sons of Italy and Christ the King Catholic Church. The family would like to express deep gratitude to the Burgundy Team of LifePath Hospice for their compassionate care. Visitors will be received by the family at 1 pm on Tues., Oct. 27 at Christ the King, 821 S Dale Mabry Hwy, followed by a Mass at 2 pm.
