Dr. Glenn R. “Doc” Sudbury, 78, of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025. Born in Natick, Massachusetts, on May 1, 1947, Glenn lived a life devoted to his family, his patients, and his community.
For 50 years, he practiced optometry in Tampa, where he cared deeply for his patients and contributed to the advancement of his profession through active service in both local and state organizations. Beyond his professional work, Doc gave generously of his time and talents to charitable programs. He volunteered with the Judeo-Christian Health Clinic and the Lions Club and proudly supported the Special Olympics, where he was honored to serve as Optometric Director in 2006 and again in 2010.
Glenn will be remembered for his humor, compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others. He is survived by his loving wife, Melody; his daughter Charmel Dodd and her husband Brian, along with their children Kendra and Braylen; and his daughter Joyelle and her husband Bo Blount, along with their children Elle and Becket. He is also survived by his sister, Pauline Stotsenberg as well as loving extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 1, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Blount & Curry Life Event Center, 605 S. MacDill Avenue, with a celebration of memories beginning at 6:15 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 2, at 10:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church, with family visitation beginning at 9:00 am. Following the Mass, an entombment will take place at 12:00 pm at Garden of Memories in Tampa.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Glenn’s honor to the Judeo-Christian Health Clinic of Tampa.
