Gregory Edward McNamara

87, of Tampa, passed away on Monday, May 9, at home. He was born on Staten Island, NY and graduated from St. Peter’s High School for Boys on Staten Island. He spent his career in data processing and systems analysis at Kinney Shoe Company and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. After retiring, he spent many years as a tax preparer for H & R Block. Greg and his wife moved to the Tampa area in 2003. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was a voracious reader who enjoyed spending hours scouring used book stores. He loved listening to music, working puzzles of all kinds and enjoying meals out with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Agnes; parents, Francis and Helen McNamara; three sisters, Marie Murphy, Nancy Kelly and Margie Metleff; three brothers, Francis, Paul and Robert McNamara; and daughter-in-law, Catherine. He is survived by his sons, Edward, of Valrico, FL; Gregory (Lisa), of Tampa, FL; Thomas (Karen), of Tampa, FL; daughter, Ellen (David) Reed, of Tampa, FL; grandchildren: Brett McNamara, of Brooklyn, NY, Kevin McNamara, of Valrico, FL, Katie McNamara, of Orlando, FL, David Reed Jr., of Boston, MA, Donovan Reed, of Tampa, FL, and Julia Reed, of Tampa, FL; and great grandchild, Sadie. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12 at Blount & Curry, 605 S. MacDill Ave, from 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 13 at 2pm at Christ the King Catholic Church.
