Mathes, Hazel Francis born 12/13/1929, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday evening after battling a long illness. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Howard Lee Mathes, who she was married to for 55 years. Born in Embreeville, Tn., Hazel and Howard moved to Tampa in 1959 eventually settling in Town & Country. Here she was a devoted housewife and with the help of Howard, they raised two boys Gregory L. (married to Jo-Ann) and Gary L (married to Lorraine) Mathes both of Tampa. She leaves 3 grandchildren (Zackory, Dylan and Payton Mathes all living in Tampa), and many nieces and nephews who were the joy of her life. Hazel was a past member of the Town & Country Church of God and an active member at Crown Lanes Kegler Bowlers. The family would like to recognize Arbor Terrace at Citrus Park and Lifepath Hospice for the loving care they provided Hazel. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm on Sunday, August 14 at the Blount & Curry-West Chapel, 6802 Silvermill Dr, Tampa followed by a funeral service at 6:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at 11:30am on Monday, August 15 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell FL. where she will be laid to rest alongside Howard, "Together Again."
