Born in Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico, Hector made his home Tampa in 1997 after moving from Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was a proud veteran who served honorably in the United States Army, retiring after a distinguished career. Hector served in Vietnam in 1968 with the 101st Airborne Division, Army Rangers in 1978, 1st Battalion 75th Rangers, and the 82nd Airborne Division, HHC2/505 Infantry.
He was a dedicated member of Encarnacion Catholic Church in Tampa, where he played in the church choir for 24 years. Hector was known for his unwavering faith and his commitment to serving his community and country. He was predeceased by his sister, Migdalia Rodriguez Santiago.
Hector is survived by his son, Hector G. Rodriguez Santiago; his daughter, Arlene Matteocci; and his son-in-law, David S. Matteocci.
A visitation for Hector will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 PM at Blount and Curry Funeral Home Oldsmar West Hillsborough, 6802 Silvermill Drive, Tampa, FL 33635. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Hector G. Rodriguez Santiago.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
