Eggleston, Hedwig “Hedy”, a loving and gracious wife, mother, and grandmother, slipped away peacefully to enter God’s Kingdom on October 25, 2015, after a valiant and courageous struggle with cancer. She is now in a sacred place where there is no more pain, only happiness. Born in Germany on September 1, 1936, to Ernst and Hedwig Autzen, she became a Naturalized American citizen and enthusiastically transitioned to America’s language and culture. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Hedy’s earthly life’s transition and triumphant entry into eternal rest on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave., Tampa 33609. Rev. Fitz Conner, Pastor First Presbyterian Church will officiate the memorial service. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am. Hedy was predeceased by her parents and daughter, Karen. Leaving to mourn her absence is her beloved husband of 59 years, Orland Eggleston, son Michael Eggleston, granddaughter Katrina Eggleston, and “adopted” daughter Malinda Antonik. Hedy and Orland considered their marital union a “Epoxy Marriage” by vowing true love and undying commitment to each other to form an enduring bond that would last until God called them home. Hedy was a 45-year member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and is listed in the 1972 edition of Outstanding Young Women of America for her charitable activities. For 27 years, she enjoyed being the wife of a career USAF Airman and never once complained about the rigorous demands placed on a military wife. Prior to her retirement at MacDill AFB’s Base Exchange, she was the supervisor of the Charity Collection’s fine jewelry department. Condolences may be expressed on-line at www.blountcurrymacdill.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa, FL 33609 in memory of Hedwig Eggleston.
