

Jacqueline Nanette (Nan) Kaufmann died on December 2, 2013. Nan was born on July 21, 1927 to Herman Jackson and Marguerite Crigger in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the third of three children. Her father was a career military army officer who moved the family all over the United States. In 1951, as her father was preparing to retire from Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Nan met Capt. Paul R Kaufmann. They were married on February 21, 1952. Nan and Paul traveled the country and parts of the world during Paul's 32 years of service in the U.S. Army and after his retirement from service. Nan may not have served in the military but was the consummate officer's wife by hostessing dinner parties of which she did all the cooking. Nan and Paul retired to Tampa, Florida in 1973 where they owned and operated two Dunkin' Donuts franchises. Nan was predeceased by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law Bea and Jim Dunham, her brother Harry Crigger, her in laws Margaret Kaufmann, Julian Kaufmann, Robert Kaufmann, Albert Kaufmann, Herman and Dorothy Kaufmann and Barbara and Charlie Throckmorton and the love of her life her husband Paul R. Kaufmann. She is survived by her children Paul R Kaufmann Jr, Portland, OR, Karen Kaufmann Blakely, Tampa, FL, Linda Kaufmann Foy (Michael), Tampa, FL, and Deborah L. Kaufmann, Tampa, FL. Nan is also survived by her loving grandsons Joshua D. Kaufmann (Courtney), Michael J. Kaufmann, and Bryan D. Blakely; and was looking forward to meeting her first great grandchild due in February 2014. Additionally, Nan is survived by eleven nieces and nephews as well as her beloved Sheltie - Pepper. The family wishes to thank Nan's caregivers Judy Harper, JS, Mary Johnson, Wanda Ford, and Sharon Dixon. The family also wishes to thank the Lifepath Hospice Blue Team for the extraordinary care they gave to Nan. Remembrance gifts may be sent to Lifepath Hospice, the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Cancer Society or the Tampa Humane Society. A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, December 7,2013 from 11AM to 12Noon at Gonzalez Funeral Home.
