Bing popped into my head today and I wanted to look him up.   I am sad to see that he has passed.   We were friends in the 90’s.  He was the sweetest man.  Always happy.  Always had a smile on his face.

I met Bing when I came to Davis Island in 2013 and  lived at the Mirasol.   He and I became friends and I knew how much he loved his life at the Mirasol.   And what a wonderful friend he was to me.   Even though we didn’t see one another due to COVID he will forever be in my thoughts.  A lovely man.

I worked with Bing for years at the Hillsborough County Real Estate Dept.  He was a great coworker and friend.  Judging from the great number of folks at his tribute service today, he was well1Y-liked.

Bing was a unique individual with whom I had the opportunity to know and work with the last few years before his retirement.   My condolences to the entire Hampton family as he was indeed, humorous and quick witted, I'm certain his family and close friends will miss that.

I had the privilege of meeting Bing when I hired him in the Hillsborough County Real Estate Department many years ago.  He was a dedicated employee but more important, he was a genuine joy to be around.  He had a kind spirit and a quick smile.  He was just a fun  person who made the workday a bit easier. I know he’ll be missed by those he leaves behind but I know there’s a place for him in heaven.  Rest in peace!


So sorry to hear of Bing's passing.  He was well loved in Hillsborough County's real estate department.  I learned a lot from him in my short tenure on his team.  Thinking of him fondly,  Brenda Vallecilla. 

Bing was a member of the university club and played liars poker with us for many years.  His favorite saying was “If your not cheating you are cheating yourself “.  Bing will be missed by all islanders
   

I had the privilege of being Bing last supervisor at Hillsborough County and later his friend.  Bing was a model employee with a great sense of humor.  My wife and I would meet him for dinner occasionally on his beloved Davis Island at restaurant 220.  We’d laugh and chat for hours.  He would share stories of his train trips and the things he would see.  He also enjoyed visiting the North Carolina mountains in the fall.  We were looking forward to going out to dinner with him again when we heard he had passed.  He will be sorely missed.

To Bing’s family and friends, I met Bing years ago through my ownership of the Mirasol apartment building on Davis Islands where Bing lived for many years and had a great love for the building and it’s history. Bing became a good friend of mine and helped me out and many others in many, many ways with advice, friendship and just his constant help around the building. He loved helping with landscaping and did a great job. He was a unique, kind, wonderful person that added much to my life and I will Always miss him. He definitely had a mischievous and fun side to him which I always enjoyed or at least almost always!! We had many conversations together about everything and he shared with me his southern upbringing and all it meant in the most delightful way. To me he was a real gentleman and the world gained by having him in it! Bob Vertz

What vivid and find memories I have of Bing as we were friends, classmates, and bus-riding chums when we attended Roosevelt Elementary School.  Though we lost touch for many years, we re-connected in recent times, and — as always — Bing exuded kindness, gentility, and generosity of spirit.

Bing was my childhood neighbor, my first "best friend" and an adored surrogate brother. I'm simultaneously smiling and teary-eyed, remembering our morning drives to BPS - always running late, me steering his car down Bayshore while he tied his tie. It was always such a treat to see him on my infrequent visits to Tampa and to be regaled by his latest stories. We laughed so much!

I remember Bing from our days at Berkeley Prep and how he could always make me laugh.

Bing Hampton is one of my favorite people on the planet. His smile his southern gentleman attitude towards every single person was so endearing at every turn. There was not a time when I saw him did he… Come over and give me a hug and with his Kind generosity share a friend, a story or a laugh. My favorite part of Christmas was going to Daryl Minardi‘s Christmas party and Bing was always my date. I will never forget a single memory. He rests in the middle of my heart as one of the most wonderful people on the planet  And I’m so grateful to have shared time with him. He left too quickly, but I did get to see him right before his passing when he was buying orchids and I gave  him the biggest hug ,so I hope he feels that in heaven. God bless you Bing Hampton you are so missed and so loved .
