Jim was born on July 8, 1929 in Pelham, North Carolina. He was raised in Danville, Virginia and attended; Pefiffer Junior College, Duke University, and Florida Southern. He earned a B.A in Music and a B.S. in Business Administration.
Jim was involved in local, national and international organizations such as Public Relations Society of America, Florida Public Relation Assoc., Sister Cities International, Merchants Assoc., and the Tampa Chamber of Commerce. He was also one of the founders of the Gasperilla Sidewalk Art Festival.
He is survived by his wife, Joan and his cousin Mary Ann Cook (Bill Cook).
