Janet was born in Washington Courthouse, OH to Robert and Ruth Haines Hussey on June 30, 1956. She graduated from West Carrollton High School and from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Education. She married David Peck Bowman on July 19, 1980 at Wilmington Friends Meeting in Wilmington, OH. She taught at many schools over her career in Ohio, South Carolina, and Florida. Subjects she taught include business education, accounting, typing and shorthand, vocational programs, and business law. She also developed curriculums, lead teacher trainings, and spearheaded many technology initiatives in her schools; she was devoted to making sure her students had access to the best and latest technology. In November 2020, she retired as Media Specialist for Hillsborough County Public Schools.
She is survived by her two children, David Richard Bowman (Dana Gasparich) of Charleston, SC, and Jessica Ann Bowman Bozolo (John) of Trinity, FL; her grandson, David Elliott Bowman; future grandchild Baby Bozolo; her brother Robert A. Hussey, Jr. (Margaret Moretti) of Troy, OH; her sister Joy Hussey Settlemyre (John) of Wilmington, OH; her aunt Rozella Haines of Wilmington, OH; and many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Janet is preceded in death by her spouse, David, her parents, Robert and Ruth, and her sister, Marian Kay Hussey Howard.
Janet loved her family and she loved to laugh. She was passionate about education and lifelong learning and instilled that value in her children. She was a positive presence for everyone around her and will be truly missed by all.
At the end, she had no fear of going to meet her Lord and Savior. She knew that every day on this earth was a gift. Remember her by enjoying the little things in life like nature, sunsets, and a laugh with a good friend.
Blount & Curry Funeral Home in Oldsmar is serving the family in Florida. The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro, OH. Burial will be at Hillsboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or education charity of your choice.
