

Gonzalez, Jeannette 82, of Tampa was called to our Lord on January 3, 2016. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born in New York City and a lifelong resident of Tampa, Jeannie attended OLPH High School, graduating with honors and serving as class President. She was chosen to receive the City of Tampa leadership award in 1950. She then attended the University of Tampa. She was in love with the arts, constantly reading and painting. She won awards for her wedding dress designs and created and crafted 6ft banners representing the disciplines that have proudly displayed in the Jesuit High School St Anthony’s Chapel and during graduation ceremonies for over 30 years Jeannie also loved education and spent many years volunteering as an elementary Art and Religion teacher. She derived her greatest joy however, being a homemaker and mother. It was her true passion and there was no one better. She is preceded in death by her parents Cayetano Suarez and Graceilla Bonet Suarez, her amazing husband and best friend, Eddie Gonzalez and her loving sister, Joyce Roger. She is survived by her son, Brian Gonzalez (Kathy); daughter Lisa Gonzalez Finn (Jeff); grandchildren, EJ Gonzalez, Matthew Gonzalez and Peyton Finn; brother in law, Jesse Roger; Nephew, Kevin Roger (Scarlett); and niece, Karla Brewer (Joel). A Catholic Prayer service will be held on Sunday afternoon, January 10 at 4pm with a celebration of life thereafter from 5-7pm, all at Blount and Curry – MacDill Chapel located at 605 S. MacDill Ave. Burial will be private. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to USF Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute, 12901 Bruce B Downs Blvd, MDC70, Tampa, FL. 33612 in memory of Jeannette Gonzalez. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. “Mema”, we love you and will miss you!
