Lt. Colonel Jimmie Allan Boone was born in Greenwood, Arkansas on August 29, 1937 to Orville and Alline Boone and passed away on July 29, 2021 in Tampa Bay, Florida. He married Gladys (Tinnell) Gentry Boone May 29, 1993.
Jimmie graduated from Greenwood High School in Greenwood, Arkansas before he attended and played football at Ouachita Baptist University and graduated from Texas Christian University with degrees in mathematics and physics. He joined the Air Force on October 23, 1956 as a mechanic on B58s followed by Officer Training school, which led to a career as a navigator for the B-52 and F-111 Bombers. During his 28-year Air Force career he received many decorations, medals, badges and citations. He completed his career at Central Command at MacDill AFB. He served two tours in Vietnam. During his time in the Air Force his family lived in several states making friends along the way. However, he and his family always called Arkansas home. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and in later years, golf. He was happiest when on the golf course with his children and grandchildren or his buddies at MacDill AFB. He and Tinnell lived their retirement years in Tampa Florida.
Jimmie is predeceased by his parents, sister, Joyce Edwards and young brother, Pat Boone.
Jimmie is survived by his wife, Gladys (Tinnell) Gentry Boone; sons, Gary (Kelly) Boone, Russell (Carla) Boone, Gregory (Michele) Boone, Kelly (Kelly) Boone; daughter, Samantha (Chuck) Beatty; and step-sons, Tony (Sheila) Gentry and Michael (Lauren) Gentry.
He was so proud of his ten grandchildren, Eric (Chelsea) Boone, Kathryn Boone, Evan (Kara) Boone, Connor (Taylor) Boone, Ethan Boone, Davis Boone, Trevor Boone, Megan Beatty, Isabelle Beatty, Nicholas Beatty; three great-granddaughters, McKenna Lauri Boone, Jenna Marie Boone and Ainsley Jaye Boone; one great-grandson, Wyatt Walker Boone; brother, Charles Boone; and two sisters, Sue Smith and Ramona Thomas.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at 1pm, Wednesday, August 4th, followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, at 605 S MacDill Avenue, Tampa, FL.
