

Lamoureux, Joan M., 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by members of her family on April 8, 2016. She was born in Nassau County, New York on March 4, 1933 to George and Olga Moran. Joan grew up in West Hempstead, N.Y. and graduated from Fordham University. In April 1957, Joan married her husband of over 50 years, George J. Lamoureux. Joan and George started married life in Queens surrounded by the love of their many family members and friends and in 1958, Joan gave birth to the first of her three sons. In 1965, Joan and her family moved to Atlanta and then in 1972 to Tampa, where she would make her home for the next 44 years. Joan was a loving mother to her “3 boys” and was actively involved in their school and other activities. Joan had a love of books and reading and in the mid-1970’s, she re-entered the work-force as an educator. She passed along her passion for reading to countless students. Joan retired from the Hillsborough County Public Schools after more than 30 years. Joan was preceded in death by her father and mother and her husband. She is survived by her loving brother and sister-in-law, George and Barbara Moran of Fountain Hills, AZ. She is also survived by her 3 sons, Christopher Lamoureux (Isabelle) of Tucson, AZ; Thomas Lamoureux (Linda) of Livermore, CA; and Peter Lamoureux (Silvina) of Tampa, FL. She is also survived by her four loving grandchildren. Joan was a life-long Roman Catholic. Arrangements are being handled by Blount and Curry Funeral Home, Oldsmar. The family wishes to thank the care-givers that helped Joan in the last few years. All those that knew and loved Joan want to especially thank her youngest son, Peter, for the many years and countless hours he devoted to the tender care of his mother when she needed it most.
