Joan Annette McClelland

Born and raised in Jacksonville, FL she attended Florida State University to graduate in 1971 with a degree in Elementary Education. She met her husband, Scott McClelland, at the Baptist Student Union there and found a number of life-long friends. Joan and Scott were married on December 23, 1972, and moved to Tampa where they joined Bayshore Baptist Church, and she worked there as the Church secretary. She obtained a Masters in Library Science at that time. They moved back to Tallahassee in 1976 for Scott to work for the state of Florida. In 1985, they moved back to Tampa where Joan taught at a few elementary schools before she became the Media Specialist/Librarian at Mabry Elementary School until her retirement.

Joan is preceded in death by her mother, Verdie McCullough Wimpee, and her father, Guy Frank Wimpee (wife, Janise), decorated a Marine veteran. She is also predeceased by her twin brother, Frank Wimpee (wife, Janise), a Vietnam veteran, and younger brother, William James Wimpee (wife, Lily). She is survived by her husband, Scott McClelland; son, Jason Todd McClelland (wife, Stephanie); grandson, Jack; and daughter, Amy Beth Ganzekaufer (husband, David).

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 13th at Bayshore Baptist Church, 3111 W Morrison Ave Tampa FL 33629.
