MITCHELL-CHRIST, Joan, 87, of Tampa passed away on July 10, 2016. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Wayne; daughter, Margaret Ann Bader (Dana) of Valrico; son, William C. Mitchell (Janice) of Brandon; stepdaughter, Valerie Owings of South Carolina; brother, William Patterson of Alabama; grandchildren, Kimberly Ginn, Kasey Mitchell, Melissa Sparks, Carrie Santos, Erika Ward, and Alex Owings; and 8 great grandchildren. Joan was an active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church for 45 plus years. She was on the pre-school board, founded the church ladies quilting group, and sang in the choir. Before retirement, she managed the office of Dr. Bertoch DDS for over 20 years. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, July 15 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 6100 Memorial Hwy, Tampa followed by internment at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church in Joan’s memory.
