Predeceased by his mother, Sarah Lowry Baldwin, John is survived by his father, Walter A. Baldwin Jr.; sister, Bryan (Eric Hull); brothers, Trey (Susan) and Lowry (Jennifer); sons, Hunter (Maggie) and Nicholas; daughter, Julia Dorio (Joey); and three grandchildren: Lily and Archer Baldwin, and Savatore Dorio.
John also leaves behind many lifelong friends and extended family members who remember him as a big-hearted, loyal, and fun-loving guy. He graduated from Plant High School in 1979, attended Elon University, and returned to Tampa, where he worked in the insurance industry. An avid and skilled outdoorsman, John loved wildlife, hunting, boating, saltwater fishing, and snowboarding. He was a passionate supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a member of the Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla, Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club, and the Tampa Yacht & Country Club.
A Celebration of Life to honor John will be held on Sunday, September 28, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Tampa Yacht & Country Club, 5320 Interbay Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in John’s memory be made to ZooTampa at Lowry Park, 1001 W. Sligh Avenue, Tampa, FL 33604, or at www.zootampa.org.
