I've known John since he started working at CH2M HILL. He helped me with the new tool of soil vapor sampling (yes, that long ago) and then with more risk assessments than I can remember. What a scientist, what a friend. He always had time and if he didn't know the answer he knew how to get it. But, more than being a great scientist, he was a great friend who stayed in touch no matter how many thousands of miles separated us. God bless you John, you will be missed.

Been my pleasure to be John's supervisor (not that he needed any supervision) for many years, through his assignments in Vietnam and Saudi Arabia. He was a huge contributor to the success of the CH2M/Jacobs environmental practice in so many ways and made us all a little better in the process. I will miss his calls from around the world, updating me on the status of his current project, emerging plans for his next assignment, or just needing a little help with a bureaucratic challenge or two. My sincere condolences to Rene and the rest of John's family. Thanks for sharing him with us for so many years.

John was a dear friend and great colleague. He knew how to live life fully - from traveling adventures to deep and long-lasting friendships. He knew how to tell a story. ( I can just hear his laugh - “Ha!”) It was always good to hear from him. He always had the answers to any question I had about chemistry or toxicology. He was such an interesting and amazing combination of guns, dogs, brilliant intelligence, and genuinely warm heart. He enriched my life. I’m glad to have known him. I hope he passed peacefully. Blessings and comfort to his family.

John was a stalwart friend and trusted colleague who will truly be missed by all whose lives he has touched. John and I worked together over the past decade or so on the Saudi Arabia program. We talked frequently on the phone about work, and about life beyond work. John had so many interesting stories to share about his life and his experiences. It was a distinct privilege to have known him. It is said that death steals everything from us, except our stories. While I will miss John, I take comfort in the fact that John has left behind some great stories and memories that I will remember him by. My deepest condolences go to Rene and family for this immeasurable loss.
