John "Jack" Barrett Dwyer, Sr.

Jack was a Valentine's Day baby born on February 14, 1937 in Syracuse, New York to Leola and Stanley Dwyer. His niece, Karen Cappuccilli Curry and his grandson, Christopher Partridge, enjoyed sharing their own Valentine's birthdays with him.

Jack attended St. Patrick's School in Syracuse, NY. He graduated from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY where he was station manager for St. Bonnie's radio station. After graduation he worked for Cappy's of Syracuse before moving his family to Florida in 1972. He was a home builder and developed town homes and small housing tracts in the Tampa area, eventually going into business with his son, John Dwyer, Jr.

Jack was a retired Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of the Home Builders Association where he served as Vice President and was also a member of their Spike Club. He served on the board of Temple Terrace Country Club and served as its president. He was a founding member of the Temple Terrace Rotary Club and served on the Parish Council of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

His children were the joy and essence of his life, and he guided and nurtured them, helping them become productive and wonderful adults. Their college diplomas hang on his office wall; he was so proud of his two Gators and two Bulls.

He enjoyed golf and rooting for the Bucs and Rays, but his most enjoyable times were spent with his family at Sunday dinner and at his beach condo in Englewood. Beach sunsets, fine wine and wonderful company were an unbeatable combination for him. Many happy memories were made there.

Jack was predeceased by his parents and his sister Carol Dixon. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Diane; his sister, Dorothy Cappuccilli of Syracuse, NY; his four children; Kimberly Judd (Eric); John Dwyer, Jr. (Amy); Brian Dwyer (Kathy); and Kelly Ryder (Eric). He will be truly missed by his nine grandchildren; Amanda Dennis (John), Monica MacNeill (Cameron), Christopher Partridge (Sarah), Jessica Judd, Nicholas, Stephanie, and Danielle Dwyer and Barrett and Corva Ryder; and six and a half great- grandchildren. He will also be missed by his long time Tampa buddy and former business partner, Harold "Hap" Rossiter.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 18, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a service beginning at 1 p.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave. Tampa, FL 33610.
