John “Jack” Andrew Gillis, 75, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on July 24th, 2010, at home, surrounded by family. He was born October 15, 1934, in Newport, Rhode Island, the son of late Urban and Margaret Gillis. He was the oldest of 4 siblings, Sally, Gina, and Cathy. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Richards and Kathy Gillis; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Tiffany Gillis; grandchildren, Ashley, Marlena, Maylin, Gordon, and Ben. Jack served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant Drill Instructor in the 1950s. A former attorney at law, retired member of the Florida Bar Association, and held numerous positions in the Tampa Bay chapters of Kiwanis and Sertoma organizations. Memorial service will take place at St. Lawrence CatholicChurch in his honor on Friday August 06, 2010 at 10am.
