Josephine (99) of Tampa, passed away peacefully Friday, March 2, 2018. She was born in Tampa to Salvatore and Bernarda Spoto. Josephine was their only daughter and was surrounded by six loving brothers. She graduated from Hillsborough High School. Upon graduation from Hillsborough High school, she worked in her father's store, Spoto's Men Shop, and then for Schlitz Brewing Company.
On July 14, 1946 she married the love of her life, lawyer Angelo C. Martino. Together they had four children. She dedicated her life to her family and enjoyed the company of many friends and relatives. Her greatest pleasures were family gatherings, Sunday Dinners, and celebrations with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She stayed close to many friends through social clubs and weekly card games until she was 99 years old.
Josephine is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Angelo C. Martino, parents Salvatore and Bernarda Spoto, brothers Peter (Isabelle), George (Teresa), Steve (Jewel), Rudy (Nadine), and Julius.
She is survived by her children Bernadine (Frank) Wright, Angela (Bill) Wilson, Ann Martino Price, Thomas (Pam) Martino; her brother Nelson (Betty) Spoto; her grandchildren Vanessa (Robert) Hilburn, F. Hadley Wright III, Candace (Matthew) Evans, Marcus Angelo Martino, Lara (David) Colas, Page (Vince) Giambanco, Gigi Price, Georgette Price, Thomas Salvador Martino Jr.; and her great-grandchildren Anthony, Sophia, Reece, Angelina, and Maximilien.
Pallbearers will be F. Hadley Wright III, Marcus Martino, Thomas Martino Jr., Matthew Evans, Vince Giambanco, David Colas, and Robert Hilburn.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in downtown Tampa on Saturday, March 10, at 10 am. Interment will follow at the Italian Club Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Italian Club Cemetery and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
