Lelia Maggiacomo, 102, was born to Michael and Blandina Pallisco on September 3, 1920 in Fondi, Italy. God took her to heaven on September 18, 2022. She is survived by her brother Joseph Pallisco, her daughters, Ann Ledwith and Antonia Westfall (Bob), her grandchildren, Denise Maggiacomo, Michele Oswald, Gina Maggiacomo, Walter Maggiacomo, Daniel Ledwith, Jennifer Donaldson (Craig), Eric Ledwith (Rachelle), Michael Ledwith (Nadia), Chris Westfall (Angie), LeeAnn Fuqua (Mark) and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Her father came to America alone to start a new life for his family. In November, 1929, her mother Blandina, Lelia and Joseph left Italy on a ship bound for New York. She also had a young brother, Oswald, born in America, who died at a young age from a car accident. She married in 1938 to Pasquale Charles Maggiacomo but was a single mom for most of her life. She worked in the garment industry and was an excellent seamstress. She loved taking care of her family, home and yard. She was an excellent housekeeper and cook. Some of her specialties will be missed.
In 1980, she retired to Florida. She was everyone’s nurse when the kids got sick or someone had surgery. Chicken soup was her cure all! She was a servant at heart. She was a frugal woman who always put away money for a rainy day no matter how little she made. She belonged to the Owls, a church group, who was always going to dinner theatres, cruises or just traveling on a bus. She never drove a day in her life, but she could take you anywhere by bus! She had a better memory than many of us. She truly enjoyed her retirement years.
