Ilgen, Lenard, 98, of Tampa, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died Tuesday, the 1st of May. Born in 1919 in Centre County, PA, Lenard received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Penn State. He worked for Duquesne Light Co. in Pittsburgh for 43 years with a four year break to serve in the Navy during WWII where he was the Engineering Officer aboard a Destroyer Escort in the Pacific. Lenard is preceded in death by Marion Crow, Darline Neuhouser Ilgen, Christine Griscti Ilgen, his son, John Ilgen and his daughter, Jeanne Ilgen (Sean Licka). He is survived by his daughter, Mary Hritz (David) and his son Paul Ilgen (Elizabeth). Lenard is lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He led by example contributing to the community through work with the YMCA, Rotary International, Meals on Wheels, and his church. Lenard leaves behind a legacy of love, support and kindness and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be at Blount & Curry West Chapel, 6802 Silvermill Dr., Tampa on May 4th from 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be held on May 5th at Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 8401 Hillsborough Ave. Tampa at 11:00 AM. A private burial will be held at Centre County Memorial Park, State College, PA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lenard’s name to Lutheran Church of Our Saviour.
