Elizabeth (“Lissy”) Martinez-Monfort died on June 13, 2018. She was born July 19, 1946, in Havana, Cuba, her family fled the Communist Regime of the Castros in 1960 for Europe. She attended Eden Hall Academy of the Sacred Heart in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in White Plains, New York. After marrying Antonio (“Tony”) Martinez-Monfort in 1967 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Lissy and Tony moved their young family to Key Biscayne, Florida, where they resided until 1985 when they selected Tampa, Florida, as their permanent residence. Lissy was fully fluent in three languages, well-traveled, well read and effortlessly elegant. She loved children, entertaining friends and family in her home or at Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, always with a welcoming smile. She was a devoted wife, exemplary mother and the funniest of grandmothers. Lissy brought warmth, grace and joy into the lives of everyone she met. She was universally loved. Lissy is survived by her loving husband of 51 years and their sons Rene and Luis, their daughters-in-law Chrissy and Amy, her beloved grandchildren, Alexandra and Luke, her parents Rene and Eliane Amiguet, and all of Tampa. Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 509 N Florida Ave, Tampa FL 33602 on Wednesday, June 27th at 10am. A reception will follow at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Luis and Amy. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to her favorite charity, Metropolitan Ministries, 2002 N.
