Lou was born November 22, 1935, to Imogen Currie and Robert Christopher Parmelee in West Palm Beach, FL.
She attended schools in West Palm Beach, graduating from Palm Beach High School in 1953. She went to Florida State University where she was a proud member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, the FSU Circus, and the Village Vamps.
She met her husband, Lon a returning Korean War veteran at Florida State and they were married in 1956 after he graduated. They lived in Decatur, GA and Jacksonville, FL before moving to Tampa in 1958.
She was a member of Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, and the Palma Ceia Women’s Golf Association. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge with her friends.
Lou was a member of Pi Beta Phi Alumnae, the Junior League of Tampa, the Tampa History Center, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Lou was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and had recently started attending Radiant Church.
Lou loved being with her children and grandchildren and attended many of their activities.
Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Lon, her parents, mother-in-law Faye Watkins Hatton, brothers – in - law Jay W. Hatton, James W. Sikes, Emery J. Newell, and sister-in-law Mary H. Hatton.
She is survived by her children Lisa F. Hatton, Paige Hatton (Donna), Christopher Hatton (Samantha) as well as grandchildren Taylor Hatton Schuessler, Jordan Hatton, Julianne Hatton, Macey Hatton, Mackenzie Hatton, Sierra Hatton, Oscar Poland, and Grafton Poland. She is also survived by her dear sisters Christine P. Sikes, and Jane P. Newell, as well as goddaughter Sharon Cole Weston and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Pam Stoner, her longtime caregiver and friend. We would also like to thank her friends at Allegro Hyde Park and Angel's Senior Living along with Life Path Hospice for all their care and support.
A visitation will take place at 12pm, Thursday, May 26, 2022 with a funeral service to follow at 1pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 South MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL. Donations may be made to Life Path Hospice in lieu of flowers.
