Louis Matassini

MATASSINI, Louis, 86, passed away on June 18th, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by the love of his life, Rose, for 63 years; his daughter, Jennie (Hank) Murphy; his son, Joe (Donna) Matassini; grandchildren, Elizabeth Knight, Louis (Erin) Murphy, Megan and Joseph Matassini; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Jacob Knight; and his brother, Pat. Louis was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Jennie Matassini; his sister, Frances Mandese. Louis was a proud owner, along with his brother Pat of J. Matassini & Sons Fish Company. He served in WWII and received the silver and bronze stars for bravery. Louis was a member of the West Tampa Optimist Club and the Sons of Italy “La Nuova Sicila”. Pallbearers will include Joe and Joseph Matassini, Hank and Louis Murphy, George, Frank, and Leonard V. Longo; Honorary Pallbearers, his coffee buddies from Roberts City. A special “Thank You” to Dr. Kankotia and Dr. Singh for their loving care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Visitation will take place Tues., June 22, 2010 from 11 am to 1pm with service starting at 1pm all at Gonzalez Funeral Home, with burial at Garden of Memories. Louis will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
