Louis Phillip May, Jr.

Louis was born on September 1, 1932 in St. Louis, MO to Louis SR. and Visa May. Louis received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Missouri. Louis served his country during the Korean War as a Captain in the US Army from August 1956 to June 1962. He married his first wife Erma Burkhead after graduating college. They raised three sons, Louis III, Paul, and David. Louis was widowed after 27 years. Louis married Laura Hilligoss in 1995. He had a special relationship with his step grandson Micheal Standridge which led Micheal to enlist in the army and continues to serve today.

Louis had a varied career in manufacturing and owned a real estate property management firm for over 15 years. He enjoyed spending time hunting with his sons when they could all get together. Louis enjoyed bowling with his wife Laura, it’s how they met.

Louis was preceded in death by his father Louis, his mother Visa, his first wife Erma, and his son Louis III. He is survived by his wife Laura, his two boys, Paul and David; step children Tammie, Bridget, Gina, and John, his brother Hugh and two sisters Betsy and Linda. He has 6 grandchildren, 16 step grandchildren, and 7 step great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12th at 10am with a funeral service beginning at 10:30am at Blount Curry Macdill, 605 S. Macdill Ave, Tampa FL 33609. Interment will follow at 2pm at Sunset Memory Gardens in Thonotosassa.
