

Hernandez, Maria “Lolin”, 75, of Tampa, went peacefully with the Lord surrounded by her loving family and friends on Oct. 30, 2015. She was born in Patillas P.R. and retired to Tampa in 1993 from Hartford, CT, with her loving husband of 40 years Leopoldo Hernandez. Lolin was dedicated to God, the Church, her neighbors and her family. She was grateful for what God gave her and for what he didn’t. She loved to cook and feed as many people as she could. She was famous for her coconut icees. She raised 7 wonderful and successful children in the Charter Oak Terrace projects in Hartford where she was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her brother, Sergio Ruiz and her parents. She will be forever missed by her husband; her children, Wanda Rivas, Myriam (Luis) Acevedo, Leonardo Valentin Jr., Migdalia (Juan) Marquez, Marisol (Erwin) Sanjuan, Nelson (Elizabeth) Valentin, and Armando (Rosanna) Hernandez. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Luis, Daniel, Richard, Luis Xavier, Cesar, Julian, Melina, Steven, Natasha, and Kayla; great grandchildren Isabella and Mirielle, and 2 brothers. Donations in Lolin’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital are requested in lieu of flowers. Services entrusted to Gonzalez Funeral Home, 813-931-1833.
