Maria Jordan, 90, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2022 in Tampa, FL. Born in Germany, she came to the United States in 1957, following her older sister, Therese, to Toledo, OH. She was offered work for the winter season in Florida at the Olde Naples Hotel, where she met Clint Jordan, a young desk clerk at the hotel. They married in 1959 and made their home in Naples, Florida.
Maria was a very dedicated mother to her three sons, who were her pride and joy. She was also known as a reliable and hard-working employee, finally retiring in 2009 after 20+ years at Walmart to help care for Clint, who passed away in 2010, and then for her sister, Therese, who died in 2018.
Maria was very competitive, and played tennis into her early 80’s. In 2005, at age 72, she was a member of the USA League 3.5 Super Seniors 70+ state championship team from Cambier Park. She was also an avid bridge player, playing weekly with her group of “regulars” and sometimes at the Naples Senior Center. But perhaps her favorite times were enjoyed playing card games like “Uncle Willy” with family and friends.
Maria is survived by her three sons, Peter (and Karyl) of Tampa, FL, Kevin (and Barbara) of Santa Maria, CA, and Thomas (and Tammy) of Overland Park, KS; and her five grandchildren, Leah, Avery (and Angela), Taryn, Violet, and Trace.
Maria was a long-time parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church in Naples, and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 23rd at 2pm.
