Marie Weathers

90, of Tampa, passed away on Friday, August 7th with her family by her side. She was born in Boston, MA, in the Mission Hill Area. Her early family life centered on the Basilica Our Lady of Perpetual Help church. She attended Mission High and had a large family and many cousins in the neighborhood. She spent many summers on Winthrop Beach, MA with her Aunt Frances. In 1953, she married Arthur F. Weathers, an Army officer and they had four children together. The family traveled throughout the US and Europe. They settled in Tampa in 1964. She loved spending time with her family, especially around her dining room table sharing family stories. She loved Christmas, and collected many Christmas artifacts. She also loved arts and crafts and volunteered with MacDill Air Force Base Pharmacy for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Arthur F. Weathers; brothers, Jack, Bill, Edwin, Charles Young; and sister, Madelyn Vona. She is survived by her four children; Maureen Weathers, Warren Weathers, Mary (Calvin) Switzer, and Arthur K. Weathers; three grandchildren, Kathryn Hough, Sean Orr, and Erick Switzer; one great grandson, Hayden; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A visitation will take place on Monday, August 10th from 4-6pm at Blount and Curry, 605 S. MacDill Ave. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, August 11th at 10am at Blount and Curry with a burial to follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
