Mark Christian Asmer Sr.

Mark Christian Asmer, Sr., 56 of Tampa, FL, passed away on Wednesday, February 4th, 2026. Born on January 11th, 1970, in Columbia, SC. He was the son of Peter Fredrick Asmer, Sr. and Edith Seay Asmer (both deceased).

Mark grew up in Columbia, SC where he attended Cardinal Newman High School and later the University of South Carolina. Mark went on to earn a Masters of International Business focusing on his love for foreign languages, including both Spanish and Portuguese. Mark had an adventurous spirit. He traveled around the world and worked for international companies that allowed him to work and live at different times in England, Mexico, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Texas. He also had a great love for sports and was an avid Gamecock fan and fantasy football player. Mark also had a great love for music which included playing guitar and making music with friends. He took great pride in being a loyal and compassionate friend to all those who knew him. Mark would eventually move to Tampa, FL to join the family medical equipment business where he focused on international sales. It was in Tampa where Mark met his wife, Nicki Fernandez, whom he married in November of 2008. This led Mark into the greatest love and passion of his life, family and raising his two boys, Mark Jr. and Nicolas. There was nothing in life that gave him more joy and pride than his two sons. He devoted his entire life to his boys. Mark was a devout husband, loving father, loyal friend, and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He committed his life to his family, his friends and to all those who had the joy of celebrating his life.

He is survived by his two sons, Mark Christian Asmer, Jr. and Nicolas Michael Asmer, and his wife Niurka Fernandez Asmer. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his brothers Peter F. Asmer Jr. (Camille), Paul J. Asmer, Sr. (Jill), and Michael S. Asmer, Sr, four nephews, three nieces and one great nephew.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 2pm on February 19th, 2026 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33609.
