

She was predeceased by her parents, and by her husband of 48 years, James Harrison Johnson, who died in 2007. She was also predeceased by her brother, Carl Lester Moseley, and her sister-in-law, Sue Elizabeth Moseley; by her brother-in-law, Robert Milton Johnson, Jr. and sister-in-law, Margaret Davis Johnson; and by her brother-in-law, William Elzey Johnson, Sr.
She is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Caroline Johnson Tritt; her son, Robert Bates Johnson and his wife, Sarah Douglas Johnson; her grandchildren, Sarah Caitlin Carballo and Austin James Tritt; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Johnson, as well as many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
Martha lived in Tampa and Indian Rocks Beach all of her childhood, where she attended Anona Elementary School, Gorrie Elementary School, Wilson Junior High School, and graduated from H.B. Plant High School in 1955. Her college years were at Mary Baldwin College, Stetson University, The Vienna Conservatory of Music and the University of Vienna in Austria, followed by graduation from Tufts University in 1959. Further graduate work was at Boston University.
She and her husband, Jim, were married in 1959 at her family home in Tampa, after which they lived in New Haven, Connecticut where Jim was Manager of Military Arms at Winchester Western of the Olin Mathieson Chemical Corp. Both of their children were born in New Haven.
In 1967, they returned to live permanently at her home in Tampa. Martha was an executive officer in four corporations and a partner in several business partnerships over the past 50 years. She was Baptist by faith, and contributed to many different churches and charities throughout her lifetime. Involvement in various groups included The Metropolitan Opera Guild, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Williamsburg Foundation, Heritage Foundation, DAR Kate Barry Chapter and life membership in the Indian Rocks Area Historical Society.
She loved her family and friends, and always strived to be of help and care to all of them. She was grateful for and appreciated each and every one.
There will be a graveside service at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park for the immediate family with casket flowers only. Donations, in memory of Martha, can be made to Bayshore Baptist Church, The Lighthouse for the Blind, Indian Rocks Historical Museum, or to any church of choice, with much gratitude from the family.
