Mary Jennifer Chavez, 68 passed away peacefully April 1, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Donald Scranton. Mary was born in Kansas City, MO to her parents, Helen P. Chavez, and George R. Chavez. She graduated from H.B. Plant High School in Tampa and then continued her education at Queens College. Mary worked in the restaurant and catering industry including catering for national touring musicians. Mary was also a travel agent and enjoyed taking many trips with her husband and their friends. She volunteered at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay and was a member of the Junior League of Tampa. Mary was very creative and enjoyed her hobbies which included pottery, hand woven baskets and knitting. Mary was one of a kind and a force of nature. She will be missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents George R. Chavez and Helen P. Chavez, and her brother Timothe Chavez. She is survived by her sisters, Denise Chavez and Michele Harris, and numerous nieces and nephews.
