She was a great woman I will always remember her in my heart.

Grandma, I apologise, I'm a little late. Of course...you'd  only say,....  SO.           then I'd day, so buttons 💕. It's been such a difficult  few  weeks. As    I'm sure you see her now🥀.  If I didn't know better, I'd think you both had a little something up your sleeves due to timing...🙏 I'm glad your together again in  a better place than the last place you were together. 💔  Knowing you both, you'd have it no other way....I miss those days by your pool with Grandpa, aunts and uncles,  siblings, father's, mother's, cousins...I call it..." The good ole days!".  Can you tell granddad ,  D.J.  and  MoM I miss them all  so  much🙏 We will all carry your  legacy..... I'll see you again. Not today, but someday.....💕 I love you.

Kaitlyn Anderson sent me these wonderful photos of our Grandma and wanted to share them with the family!!    

Grandma with three of her Great Grand-daughters, Kaitlyn, Samantha and Krista.  It appears to be Christmas time around 1996.  Uncle David Dougherty is seen here smiling watching the silliness.


Mom was born in Ithaca, New York, nearly 100 years ago in 1923. She had three older brothers; Everett, Walter, and Bruce.

Mom's father, Arthur Robinson, was a motorcycle policeman who died of a heart attack when she was very young, at the start of the Great Depression. Her mother was Mina Robinson who was born a Lovejoy. Somehow Mina managed to feed and clothe the four children.

Mom  met  Harry in 1941. She was a beautiful teenager. Pop said that he had to deal with some of her older brothers who didn't want him around their little sister.

Mary and her three brothers were all married by 1942. Everett married Clara, Walt married Josephine, and Bruce married Arlee. Mary's husband and three brothers  were posted to overseas combat by 1943, and they left behind four pregnant brides. All four had their babies arrive within a short span 1n 1943.

The bonds that the four women  formed during the war were strong.  After the war, the families were very close. They frequently visited and shared holidays and children. .

Mary went to work in 1944 in a factory on the hill in Ithaca. She was a quality control inspector for proximity artillery fuses. The radar proximity fuse was one of the most important top secret inventions of WWII. The effectiveness of an artillery fragmentation shell is increased by a factor of five if you can make it explode  75 feet above ground. The proximity fuse also greatly increased the effectiveness of anti-aircraft shells. Patton said he was thankful that we invented them instead of the Germans.

Mary's husband and brothers came home after the war and all  quickly produced more children, Mary had Carol and David. At the time, Pop was struggling with three jobs; delivering newspapers, ice house worker, and apple picking. They had an ice-box instead of a refrigerator and no television. Mom darned our socks to repair  holes. The repair involved inserting a light bulb into the defective sock and a lot of sewing.
