Mary Galantino passed peacefully at the age of 90 on December 8, 2023, in Tampa, FL. She was born on July 15, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY. Mary cherished her memories of working in Manhattan as a young woman and raising her family in Queens and Tampa. The matriarch behind a long-running Italian restaurant in Tampa, Mary leaves a legacy of love and steadfast devotion to her family and friends. Her recipes, especially her lasagna, are the stuff of legend.
Throughout her life, Mary was happiest when family was near, and delighted in celebrating the milestones and achievements of her children and grandchildren. She loved crafting, baking, and family dinners. On her 90th birthday this summer, Mary enjoyed the ultimate family dinner—a party in her honor at her restaurant, where she spent the day in the company of family and friends from near and far.
Her memory lives on through her family: sons Nicholas, Peter, and Michael; son in-law Steven; daughter in-laws Karon and Isabel; grandchildren Sharon, Britney, Nicolas, Isabelle, Drew, and Blake; and great grandson William. Mary joins her daughter, Gina, in eternal peace, along with her parents and siblings.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff at Canterbury Tower for the care of Mary like she was their own mother or grandmother.
A visitation will be held at Christ The King Catholic Church on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 9:00 - 10:00 am. Following the visitation, a funeral mass will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Mary will be buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to charity of your choosing in memory of Mary.
