

Mary Conte Napoli, 96, died on May 26, 2016. She was the sixth of seven children of Stefano and Guiseppina Conte. Mary was a lifelong resident of Tampa. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Christopher Napoli, sisters Theresa Conte, Ann Capitano, Rose D'Arpa, and brothers Joe, Sam, and Peter Conte.
Mary was a 1937 graduate of Hillsborough High School, received a BA degree from Stetson University, and a Master of Education degree from the University of Florida.
She served as an elementary school teacher for sixteen years and an elementary principal for twenty-seven years at Gary, W.J. Bryan, Forest Hills, and Lassie Shaw, which she opened in 1972.
In retirement Mary tutored at Carrollwood School and volunteered for the American Cancer Society Reach to Recovery Program. She was an active member of Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church involved in the Friendship Sunday School Class and the Mary Martha Circle.
For nearly sixty years she was a member of First Christian Church, where she sang in the choir, was President of the Christian Women's Fellowship, and was the first female Board Chair.
Survivors include son Joseph and his wife Margaret Napoli, daughter Christa and her husband Mike Parnell, grandchildren Melissa Santamaria, Janeanne Napoli, Kevin Parnell, and Mari Catherine Poister; five great grandchildren, sister in law Florence Piercey, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday, May 31, at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm.
