Mary Louise Villeneuve, wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and dear friend to many, ended her battle on Saturday, February 24, 2024. Mary was born May 7, 1941, in Jacksonville, Florida to John R. and Dorothy Anderson. She grew up in Jacksonville with her parents and brother, Richard Anderson.
In 1958, Mary met the love of her life, Joe Villeneuve. It was the beginning of a loving relationship that lasted over 66 years. Married in 1960, Joe and Mary moved to Lakehurst, N.J. while Joe served in the United States Navy. Mary and Joe started a family there with their first son Paul, before moving back to Jacksonville, Florida. Four years later Mark was born, followed several years later by their third son Matt. In the event anyone ever questioned her strength and tenacity, realize she lived with and raised four boys.
When Joe began his career with the US Secret Service, he was called from home on many occasions, often for extended periods of time. In his absence Mary handled everything at home, managing three boys and a busy household without ever missing a beat.
When the boys were older, Mary began working at Morgan Woods Elementary School as the bookkeeper and principal’s secretary. Her years there were cherished, having made many friends, some of whom remain close. Mary and Joe retired at the same time, spending many years traveling the country and living the leisurely life they had earned. Mary loved to travel, birdwatch (if you see a Cardinal, think of her) and spending time with her family.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, John and Dorothy Anderson, as well as her brother Richard Anderson. She is survived by her husband Joe, sons Paul, Mark, and Matt (and daughter-in-law Lucia Villeneuve), and grandchildren Tristan, Parker, Chloe, Lily, and Max.
In lieu of flowers, Mary would have been honored if donations were made to Metropolitan Ministries or Hospice.
A visitation for Mary will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Blount and Curry Funeral Home Oldsmar West Hillsborough Chapel, 6802 SILVERMILL DR, TAMPA, FL 33635. A prayer service will occur Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 6802 SILVERMILL DR, TAMPA, FL 33635. A committal service will occur Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S. W. 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
