Matilda “Tillie” Timmes, 92, of Tampa, went home to be with the Lord on June 4, 2019. She was preceded in death in 2006 by her late husband of 59 years Col. Edward A. Timmes, U.S.M.C. She is survived by her five children; Susan Dubin of Alexandria, VA; Stephanie (Bruce) Cox of Tampa, FL; Karen Peters of Sarasota, FL; Edward A. (Sherrie) Timmes Jr. of Dunedin, FL and Mark E. (Lorrie Miller) Timmes of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Tillie was born in Worcester, MA and was the fourth of five daughters. She was a dedicated U.S Marine Corps spouse supporting her late husband's 31 year military career. She was a long time parishioner of the Church of the Incarnation in Tampa, FL where she was involved in the Knights of Columbus Council 8612 Columbiette auxiliary and was recognized as Columbiette of the Year.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, June 21st from 7:00pm-9:00pm (with a prayer service at 8:00pm) at Christ the King Catholic Church Chapel, 821 South Dale Mabry Highway Tampa, FL 33609. The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 22nd at 2:00pm at Christ the King Catholic Church Main Sanctuary with a reception afterwards from 3:00pm-5:00pm in the McLoughlin Center at the church.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
