She was a devoted mother and grandmother, known affectionately as “Maw Maw” by her beloved grandkids. Family was at the center of her heart, and she touched countless lives not only as a mother and grandmother but also through her career as a therapist. Maydean’s passion for helping others led her to establish her own private practice, Bottom Line Counseling, where she provided guidance and support to so many.
Beyond her work, Maydean found joy in the simple pleasures of life—feeling the warmth of the Florida sunshine, traveling to new places, setting sail on cruises, and listening to the music of Kenny Chesney. The beach was her happy place, where she could relax, play in the waves and take in the beauty of the world.
Maydean was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie Allen and James L. Yates; her siblings, James Lewis, Ronald Dean, Karen, Paul, Allen, and Juanita “Fay”; and her beloved granddog, Sugar.
She is survived by her children, Nina Strychalski, Morris Yates, and Matthew Yates; her cherished grandchildren, Julianna Yates and Jorge Harris; her granddog, Milo; and her brother, Gary (Nantha) Yates. She was also blessed with a circle of devoted friends who became her chosen family, offering love, laughter, and unwavering support throughout her life.
Her life will be honored with a service at Blount & Curry on MacDill, Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
Maydean’s kindness, wisdom, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
