Burkett, Mildred B. , 87, Tampa, passed away Thursday September 10, 2015 at The Renaissance Memory Care Village. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio November 16, 1927 and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1946. In 1949 she graduated from Marinello College in Cincinnati Ohio.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Edward D. Burkett, son Donald Burkett and wife Sylvia, daughter Peggy Burkett Ohman and husband Philip, grandchildren; Chandra, Ian, Sharbette, Jaclyn and Alexander, and 5 great grandchildren and many extended family members.
Mildred was owner and manager of Burkett’s Sewing Center for many years, specializing in sales and service. Machine embroidery “painting with thread” was Mildred's specialty.
She was a founding member of the Grace Lutheran Church and a Girl Scout Leader.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 12 to 2PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home. Graveside services will then take place at 3:30PM at Sunset Memory Gardens in Thonotosassa, FL.
