HEILIG, Pamela D'Apice, 63, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Pam is preceded in death by her dear parents Anthony and Ena D'Apice. She is survived by her adoring husband of 40 years, Bill, and thankful son Marquis (Libby). She was a magical grandmother to her five precious grandchildren Gwendolyn, Catherine, John, Margaret, and, the newest addition, Anthony. Pam leaves behind two devoted brothers, Ross (Priscilla) and Robb (Connie), a chosen sister, Linda, and 17 beloved nieces and nephews. Born in Utica, New York, Pam had a blessed childhood in which she made friends she cherished throughout her life. She graduated from Utica Catholic Academy (1969) and Nazareth College in Rochester, New York (1973). Later in life, Pam completed her Masters Degree in Education. Pam and Bill moved to Tampa in the summer of 1979 to start a new adventure together. She taught art to both the young and old and opened her students' eyes to the beauty around them. Art teacher to her Dale Mabry Elementary students for 13 years and presently, a favorite teacher at Jefferson High School to her "cuties" for the last 13 years. Pam illuminated every room she entered in the most humble, self-deprecating way. Everyone she loved will miss her generous perspective. Her laugh is etched on all of our hearts. Pam was a faithful, devoted Catholic and her love for God was displayed daily. She had a grateful heart every day of her life. Pam's answer to every request for help was forever and enthusiastic "yes" and her beautiful calligraphy continues to adorn homes and businesses throughout Tampa. A hole has been left in all of our lives but we take great comfort in knowing that she is in the arms of our Heavenly Father and the Blessed Mother. A funeral Mass will celebrate her life on Thursday, March 19, at 4 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Tampa. There will also be a visitation Wednesday, March 18, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave, Tampa, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made in her honor to the Nicaraguan Christian Relief Ministries. Checks can be sent to 4001 W. Morrison, Tampa, FL 33629.
