Paul J Crofton

Paul Crofton, 89, of Tampa, FL and formerly of Scranton, PA, passed away on November 1, 2018 in Tampa. He was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret Crofton. Paul was a graduated of Holy Rosary High School. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Rita Crobett Crofton. He served in the US Army as an occupational force during WWII. Paul was employed by Eastern Airlines for 35 years. Upon retiring, Paul took a job as Chief Inspector for the State of Florida at Tampa Bay Downs where he worked for 28 years. Paul was a generous man who worked in the background, always doing what was right and never seeking the credit or recognition he so richly deserved. He will be missed greatly by his family. Surviving are daughter Rita Crofton Fernandez, three grandchildren Christine Avila (Luis), Sean Paul Fernandez (Paula), and Brittney Fernandez (Jefferson); five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his three brothers, Robert, Thomas and Frances Crofton. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10AM at the Church of the Incarnation with family receiving guests at 9:30AM.
