Today Marks year 3... It always gets so tough around this time of year knowing the anniversary of your passing is coming around. Its almost like i cant get your voice out of my head.. not that i want it to be anyway. Paypayyyy they're having a reunion at camp soon and i really want to go! You wouldve definitely encouraged me to! You were my biggest supporter at camp; made me put on a brave face for everything! Until it dealt with a wolf spider and suddenly you were just a little girl again. Anyways Payton, i miss you honey. I think about you often and what could have been. You'll be 15 this year! I hope you're super excited and just partying away. I hope in heaven, you're cured from everything that has ever bothered you. I love you PayPay!!

Somehow i hoped that maybe you read these from time to time and smile at the many memories and impacts youve had on so many people around you. A letter Payton wrote me the day after she left camp. This letter meant so much to me because it was the first one I’ve EVER received 😭

A pop it and an earth team earring Payton made for me :) . It was the second day of camp and i asked her if i could play with her popit, as soon as i had it, she told me i could have it and to leave it in my bag at all times so i could think about her the whole day 😂😂. She also made me the Earth team earrings after finding out we were on the same team! I still hear her “Thunder-AYEEE, THUNDERNATION” ringing in my ears 😂. Uggghhh i miss her so much… she hasnt left my mind..

Its crazy how just knowing someone for two weeks seems short lived but experienced as a eternity. Payton brought so much laughter to our cabin (Pilot House) this summer. She wrote me a letter one day after camp saying how she couldn't wait to request me as her counselor and to “be prepared” lol. I planned on going back specifically for her session just to make her happy. May she rest in peace knowing how much she was loved from everyone around her ❤️. -Bubs

I remember when we were playing around in quiet time at camp and you accidentally got acrylic paint on your bedsheets. I remember we were laughing so hard. I almost started crying. I love you so much and hope you are heaven. And if you saw her smile you would smile. She had the most wonderful personality. I remember the FaceTime calls, and you would do TikTok dances that I don’t think even existed and you just made me really really happy. I love you so much.

Payton was the best friend at camp you could ever ask for. She was funny, pretty, kind, and respectful. We had many great memories together, wether it was going to sliding rock with each other to singing “I Want It That Way” with our cabin. She was a true leader and likeable. She was always happy and made others feel better when we were down. She cared for everyone and was quick with a joke. I might not have known her for a very long time, but two years felt just the right amount of time to truly connect and become close. Her presents was a gift and her time with us was a present. May she forever be with us. Payton is in a better place right now and is looking over all of us. Miss you lots, Payton! 💜💜🕊️

My heart breaks for Payton’s family and friends over this unimaginable loss. My daughter has many happy memories (and hilarious stories) of her time with Payton at Keystone Camp (in Pilot House).  Payton bravely helped them face down an unwelcome wolf spider in the cabin and outrun an angry chicken!  My daughter is lucky to have known her.  To echo what so many others have already said, Payton was a bright light and taken too soon.  Wishing all that knew her comfort and strength as they grieve.

Payton was one of my first campers at Keystone this past summer and she made my first year as a counselor the best experience ever. Her burst of energy and laughter was very contagious. Where ever i was, she followed right behind me. I had a special camp bond with her. I send my condolences to all of her family and loved ones. Forever my camp bestie like we promised…

Payton brought so much joy and laughter to keystone. I will always remember how much she made me and those around her smile in activities. The keystone community will always love her. From the bottom of my heart, my deepest condolences.

I don’t know Payton, but since my friend used to dance at NLDC with her, I found out the news. My heart dropped when I heard what happened. My deepest condolences to the receiver of this message as well as to Payton’s friends and family. I cannot imagine the pain you guys are going through right now, and no one truly ever deserves something like this in their lifetime. Even though you don’t know me, I feel like I had to write this message. I am hurting for you guys so bad. This will be a tough journey and there is no way around it, but I just know that there are so many people around you who will put down their things down and be the shoulder you can cry on. I wish there was something I could do to help you guys. I can see that Payton was a very charming girl, you can just tell from the way they smile. I truly wish you the very best, and that you can fully heal. The entire Lyle family are in my thoughts and prayers🤍

Last year I was one of Payton’s camp counselors at Keystone. She mailed me her own fidget toys last year after she went home because I liked them and wouldn’t take them when she tried to give them to me in person. She hugged me every day and was always so full of light and energy. I loved her sassy attitude, and her perseverance. I only knew her for the two sessions she was at keystone, but I looked foreword to seeing her and hoped she would be back after every time. Payton was truly someone special. 

Payton was a great friend to me at keystone and I will miss her so much. 

This breaks my heart 💔!! She was such a sweet soul and so full of energy, laughs, and more!! I loved getting to know my sweet Payne at Keystone Camp!! I have a picture of her in my room she gave me and I’m holding it right to my heart as I cry and remember all the funny jokes, talks, and hugs we shared. Rest well my Payne 🥺💔.
