Phyllis Shirley Frantz, 90, of Tampa, FL, passed away January 16, 2019. She was the wife of the late Herbert W. Frantz. Born in Schuylkill Haven, PA she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret E. Bubeck.
Phyllis was a 1946 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School. She was a seamstress, telephone operator and in later years, housewife and volunteer.
Phyllis was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She served as President of the Tampa Bay Chapter of American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., as well as VAVS Representative for the James A. Haley VA Hospital. During the Vietnam War, she and her Girl Scout troop coordinated supplies from local churches and businesses for Operation HandClaps. These supplies were then sent by the Tampa Marine Reserve Unit to chaplains and orphanages in Vietnam. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother as well as a Girl Scout Troop Leader for many years. She and her husband enjoyed camping and were members of the Tampa Bay Chapter of Airstreamers, traveling throughout the United States and Canada.
Preceded in death by her husband, son LCpl William D. Frantz, USMC, and grandson George Christman, she is survived by her daughters: Louise A., wife of Michael Crowe, Casper, WY; Paula J., wife of Ricky Rodriguez, Tampa, FL; Jackie B., wife of Joseph Ingolia, Odessa, FL; and step daughter, Lenore Frantz, Englewood, FL. Ten grandchildren: Lori Christman Bourtasenkov, Eric Christman, Israel Crowe, Michelle Crowe, Amanda McCarlson, Lee Rodriguez, Alexander Rodriguez, Elizabeth Ingolia, Joseph Ingolia, Jr. and Laura Ingolia as well as 13 great grandchildren; dearly loved nieces and nephews as well as honorary sons and daughters. Phyllis was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Davis, and Esther Toomey.
A special thanks to the staff at Inspired Living-Tampa, who loved our mother as if she were their own. We will never forget you.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 2 at 11:00 am, with reception following at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 3712 W El Prado Blvd, Tampa, FL 33629.
