Rabelo Jr., Ralph peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 15, 2019, surrounded by his family. Ralph is survived by his wife, Marlene, his sister, Yoli Macias, his daughter, Desiree Rabelo Hogsett, his son, Ralph Rabelo lll & daughter-in-law, Sheryl, his grandchildren, David Hogsett (Tracey), Rachel Rabelo (Joe), and Natalie dos Santos (Geo). He is also survived by the joys of his life, his beautiful 4 great-grandchildren: Mikayla and Addyson Weaver, Isaac Hogsett, and Mia Rose dos Santos.
“Awoo” was a native of Tampa; he was born and grew up in Ybor City, the oldest son of Ralph Rabelo Sr. and Soledad DiSalvo. He and his wife, Marlene, enjoyed a long and happy marriage of 66 years. His career was as a journeyman electrician where he worked for more than 40 years until he retired at the age of 62. Until his passing he remained a member of the IBEW Local Union 915 where he was a member for over 60 years.
In addition to loving his family and his love of music, his greatest passion was golfing, which he began as a young man and continued through his later years. During his golfing endeavors he had the distinction of having shot 5 holes in one. He was an intelligent, funny, loving, and supportive husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be leaving a void in each of our hearts that no one else can fill. He accomplished all in life that he desired to (except for meeting Tim Tebow in person) and lived a full and happy 86 years.
A visitation will be held this Tuesday, June 18, from 6-8 p.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, and the graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 19, at 11 a.m. at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Donations to Melech Hospice House or flowers are welcomed and appreciated.
