Tampa, Florida | Born in Bisbee, Arizona
The Rev. Richard Greer Fellows, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on July 23, 2026. Born in Bisbee, Arizona, Richard devoted much of his life to serving others through his faith, his country, and his community.
Richard was an Episcopal priest whose ministry touched countless lives over the years. His commitment to serving others extended well beyond the church. He proudly served in the United States Army, retiring with the rank of Major after serving as an Army Chaplain. He later continued that calling to service as a chaplain with the Tampa Police Department, providing guidance, comfort, and support to officers and their families.
For Richard, being a priest and chaplain was more than a profession. It was a reflection of the way he lived his life. He was committed to being there for people during some of their happiest moments and some of their most difficult ones, offering a steady presence, compassion, faith, and counsel whenever they were needed.
Above all, Richard was a father and Papa. He is survived by his sons, Peter Fellows and Philip Fellows; his daughter-in-law, Kathryn Bonti; and his granddaughter, Sara Fellows. His family will remember him not only for the many people he served throughout his life, but simply as Dad and Papa, and for the memories and lessons he leaves behind.
Richard lived a life centered on faith and service. Through his ministry, military service, work with law enforcement, and devotion to those around him, he leaves behind a legacy of helping others that will continue through the many lives he touched.
A service celebrating Richard’s life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
St. Mary’s Episcopal Church • 4311 W. San Miguel Street, Tampa, Florida 33629
Richard will be deeply missed by his family, friends, fellow clergy, members of the military and law enforcement communities, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
