Swirbul, Richard Charles Sr. age 77, of Tampa died September 23, 2015 at Tampa General Hospital. Born in Duquesne, PA Richard came to Florida early in his life. He graduated from Hillsborough High School and the University of Tampa which he kept close ties with. He was a member of Christ the King Church and several community organizations. Richard was a strong family man. He is survived by his two sons Rick of Tampa and Jay of Gainesville, their wives Kimberly and Susan, four beautiful grandchildren, his companion BJ Lutzk of Tampa and brother Bob Swirbul of Cary, NC. Richard had one of those “one in a million” success stories whereby as a young man he started working in the mail room at the Merchant’s Association and through his hard work and dedication he worked his way up to President of the company. The Merchant’s Association was a place he held close to his heart until his retirement in 2001. The only thing stronger than Richard’s work ethic was his love for and commitment to his family. He was a loving husband to his wife, Vera, until her passing and was a devoted father to his sons and companion to BJ until his passing. A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am on September, 28 2015 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave, Tampa. The service honoring Richard will be held at 11:00am.
