Zephyrhills, FL-Formerly of Greece N.Y. (60) Proceeded in death by his parents, Lester and Lila. He is survived by his loving daughter Bonnie and her husband Jason Kausch, various aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He passed away after battling many health problems, with his daughter and a few close friends by his side.
He was a proud long distance lifetime member of the Street Machines of Rochester and the Rochester Street Rod clubs. He has had a passion for cars from the time that he could drive til he departed. Bob had restored many classic cars in his life, but the one he was most proud of was a 1952 Chevy two door sedan called the “flaming red tomato.” Bob traveled all over the state of New York with this car winning many trophy’s at several different car shows. He also had a love for animals and had rescued several cats throughout the years and gave them a loving home.
Bob had a great appreciation for life and lived it to the fullest. During the week he could be found at the pool in the Sundance retirement community. He would put his head up on the ledge of the pool and float, sometimes even falling asleep in the pool. His friends lovingly named him “sleepy." On Tuesdays he would hop in his golf cart with his friend Ann and drive around there community collecting cans, the proceeds of which were donated to a kids home that the Sundance community helps support.
In the winter he grew out his beard and his belly to transform into “Santa Bob." Playing the jolly elf for the benefit of the children’s home, nursing homes and a few other events in the area. In the summer time he enjoyed going to car shows around the area with his friend Jim and also enjoyed making new friends while chatting with other car buffs that shared the same passion.
Bob went on a cruise about a year and a half ago for the first time and had such a great trip with several friends from his community. He became great friends with Andy and they hung out on the beaches, enjoyed sight seeing and shopping on each island. On the boat one night they had a competition for the sexist man on the boat. Everyone cheered “Bob Bob Bob" as he did his version of the worm, and cheered louder when; as a gesture of kindness to each of the judges, he kissed each of them on the cheek. This cruise was during “spring break” so he had some young, good looking competition and the judges were young female collage students. He had won each judge over with his kiss on their cheek and was made “The Sexist Man on the Boat." He proudly wore a medal declaring that the remainder of the trip and for several weeks after his return home.
He had many friends here in Florida and in New York that will miss him but know that he is in a better place and is no longer suffering. Bob touched so many peoples lives. He was always willing to help anyone and do anything. He is watching down on his family and friends while smiling. Expressions of sympathy may be sent in his memory to the American Diabetes Association.
