Robert Carson went to be with the Lord April 19, 2018 at the age of 90. Born April 23, 1928 in Marion, Indiana to the late Virgil and Thelma, where he lived until September 1959. He moved his family to sunny Florida settling in the Tampa Bay area. Robert was the owner/operator of Marion Excavating Company in Indiana and continued his career as an operating engineer of heavy equipment in Florida. He was a hardworking man with an engineering mind. Robert had many interests and hobbies but he was particularly fond of playing, restoring and refurbishing Hammond Organs and Clocks, roller dance skating and loved watersports on fast outboard motor boats and wave runners. Always an animal lover, he last shared his home with his beloved Yorkshire terrier “Sugar”. A man of strong Christian faith, Robert was called “Preacher Man” by some and was known for his calm spirit, gentle nature and always being gracious and generous. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ted and Jack and his wife Allie Jean. Robert is survived by his loving daughters Sharon Carlton and Judith DeStasio, his cherished grandchildren Kathleen, Jennifer, Rebecca, Elizabeth and his great grandchildren A.J., Abigail, Eli, Luke, Alexa, Samuel and soon to come Baby Girl Pittman. Robert will forever be loved and missed by his family. In lieu of flowers you may make donations in Roberts name to Lifepath Hospice of Tampa.
